Egress Area Walls

Since 1951, Marshall Stamping Company has been a manufacturer of high quality, metal products for the home building industry. We have been producing regular grade, galvanized area walls since 1955. In 2004, we introduced our full line of galvanized and painted egress area walls, grates and ladders. With our “state of the art” equipment, we have the capability to manufacture configurations of any width, height, or projection. Our major features and specifications are as follows:

1. Unpainted area walls are made of heavy 18 Ga, G-90 hot dipped galvanized sheet steel with mill certs. Painted area walls use the same galvanized base steel, but are prepainted before fabrication with a high quality primer and 1 mil Valspar white paint inside and ½ mil gray paint outside.
2. Corrugations are 2½” crest to crest and ½” deep.
3. 48”, 60”, & 72” have a 5/8” roll on the top and bottom for rigidity and strength.
4. Our flanges are straight and flat for a tight fit against the foundation.
5. The top and bottom corners of our flanges are rounded off to eliminate a sharp edge for safety.
6. Our attachment holes are double-slotted for ease of leveling the area wall when installing. The holes are spaced 2-11/16” on center; 1½” overall length; round, center hole diameter is ½”; double slots are ¼” wide; distance from outside edge of flange to center of round hole is 1”; distance from top of flange to center of first hole is 3½”.
7. Our attachment holes are true dimensions (not grossly distorted) allowing fasteners to be installed easily.
8. The inside of our painted area walls are protected with a clear plastic laminate that is removed after installation. This helps keep the white surface clean and protected against scratching and marring.
9. Painted area walls are packaged 12-15 pieces per skid, 10 pallets per truckload. 4” x 4” wood blocks are placed between each area wall to protect against jamming. This also helps to prevent spreading of the bottom pieces and allows each area wall to be separated easily without damaging the other walls. The inside, painted surfaces that come into contact are additionally protected with sheets of foam cushioning. Any surface of the area wall that touches the banding is also protected with cardboard sheeting.
10. We ship in vans to eliminate the need for hold down straps or chains that damage the paint finish and jam the stacked area walls.
